Misty Aschenbach, CPA


Misty was named the firm President in 2018. She originally joined the firm in 2002 as the Office Administrator while pursuing her accounting degree and proceeded to serve as staff accountant, corporate accountant and corporate tax manager, and the founder’s right-hand person in her many years with the firm. She has worked closely with many of our business and personal tax clients during the years and takes pride in the sincere relationships she has built by being proactive and providing strong client service.

Misty enjoys spending her free time with her husband and two kids, usually at one of their sporting events, and tries to get to the beach in between. She is a graduate of The University of Akron with her Bachelor of Science majoring in Accounting and subsequently obtained her CPA License. Misty has served on committees that support empowerment of disadvantaged communities and scholarship reviews.

Darlene Drumm

Office Manager

Darlene joined our firm in 2008 as the Office Manager. Prior to joining our team Darlene worked for thirty years as a staff assistant in government and private industry.  She provides our staff and clients organizational assistance and serves as a liaison between clients and accountants to help ensure prompt attention to their needs. Darlene truly enjoys the interpersonal relationships she has with her co-workers and clients.

Darlene spends her free time with her husband and two sons and enjoys physical fitness. She has served as a volunteer for organizations that support youth sports.

Karen Larson, CPA

Sr. Staff Accountant

Karen first joined our team in 1993. She is currently using her CPA experience to serve as a Senior Staff Accountant and Tax Manager. Karen worked for other firms intermittently and brings many years of tax, financial, and consulting experience to Gray CPA, Inc. Karen has expertise in providing comprehensive accounting and tax services, including: individual, corporate, partnership, nonprofit income tax returns, and trust and estate tax returns.

Karen enjoys spending her free time traveling, skiing, hiking and biking with her family. She is a graduate of Baldwin Wallace with a Bachelor of Business Administration majoring in accounting and is an active committee member for the local schools.

Patti Kuczkowski

Administrative Assistant

Patti joined the firm in 2000 as a seasonal tax administrative role. She now works part time year-round assisting with accounts receivable, transaction data entry, tax return assembly, among many other administrative support duties.

Patti spends her free time with her husband and granddaughter and enjoys taking on new home projects. She also works part-time making others feel and look their best.

Sheila Hryszko

Tax Assistant

Sheila joined the firm in 2015 in a part-time tax administrative role. She has a variety of work experience, including running her own small business. She has QuickBooks desktop, billing, AR, bank reconciliations, budgeting and forecasting experience.

Sheila spends her free time with her husband and three sons who all are very active in sports and activities. She is a graduate from The University of Akron and has a Bachelor’s in Finance. Shelia is very active in the non-profit sector where she was instrumental in helping to establish Courage for Carina Foundation that supports Akron Children’s Hospital, and more specifically, the Haslinger Family Pediatric Palliative Care Center.

Laurie Haberstro

Staff Accountant

Laurie joined our firm in 2002 as a Staff Accountant. Prior to joining our firm Laurie worked in various firms —  including her own small business — with responsibilities including financial statements, budgeting, cost accounting and QuickBooks. She currently enjoys working with start-ups, QuickBooks training with clients, not-for-profits, and a wide variety of industry based clients.

Laurie spends her free time at her cottage in Canada or out on Lake Erie and with her family. She is a graduate of Central Michigan University and followed up with her Master’s degree of Accounting from Cleveland State University. She serves on boards of not-for-profits that support youth sports and special needs.

Michele Yenyo

Staff Accountant

Michele joined the firm in 2015 as a staff accountant and tax preparer. She has been working in public accounting since 1998 and has also run her own small businesses. Michele is well-versed in many industries and enjoys working with established or start-up farms, logisitics/transportation companies, wholesale distributors, service stations, and others.

Michele spends her time off with her horses and family, most notably her twin grandchildren. She is a graduate of Baldwin Wallace with a Bachelor of Business Administration majoring in accounting. Michele serves on various committees and volunteers for organizations that support underprivileged people.

Heidi Kun

Jr. Staff Accountant

Heidi joined our growing firm in January 2018 as an individual tax preparer and Junior Staff Accountant. Prior to joining our team she worked for various companies, including her own small business, with responsibilities such as personal taxes, accounting and bookkeeping, using QuickBooks desktop and Online as well as budgeting. She is looking forward to growing with our team and expanding her knowledge of corporate tax.

Heidi enjoys her free time boating, swimming and snow skiing with her husband and two children. She is a graduate of Kent State University with a Bachelor of Accounting and serves as Treasurer for multiple organizations supporting youth activities.

Kris Aschenbach


Kris joined our firm in 2021 as the Assistant to the President and quickly accelerated to our Controller. Prior to joining our team, Kris worked in the banking industry managing back office operations for 20 years, with responsibilities such as accounts payable, daily funds settlement, general ledger reconciliations, fixed assets, pre-paid and accrued expenses, financial statement and board report creation. Kris is looking forward to growing within the firm and developing new skills along the way. 

Kris spends his free time with his wife and watching his two children’s sporting events. Kris is a devoted Cleveland and Ohio State sports fan and enjoys golfing and bowling. He is a graduate of The University of Toledo with a Bachelor of Business Administration majoring in Finance.
